I find myself thinking a lot about a zombie apocalypse. Most especially in the morning, when I rise before the sun and the our apartment is dead quiet. I find myself taking certain precautionary measures, like showering and getting ready with the doors shut (although if velociraptors can figure them out, zombies probably can too). And as much as working in retail makes me wish for an undead outbreak, I find myself shying away from it during the early morning hours. I start asking myself various questions. Would I know what was happening? Where would I go? What would I do? Would I have a weapons stockpile? And most importantly, would I even survive? I, unfortunately, have no good answers to these questions. However, if I ever do, I'll probably be debuting on Doomsday Preppers...(right next to the guy whose bugout location is his eighteen wheeler...yeah good luck with that already fucked situation, Mister).
Seriously though, zombies are fascinating, morbidly fascinating. I'll admit they scare the sh*t out of me, but I love the idea of it. Resident Evil, Zombieland, Shaun of the Dead, The Walking Dead....I've devoured them all, and I'm always searching for more, especially literature. When I saw the first Resident Evil in theaters I didn't sleep for a week, and accidentally punched my sister in the face when she tried to crawl into bed with me. In my defense I thought she was going for the neck.It was a long and sleepless week.
I still went back for more, and my current obsession is "The Walking Dead". I can not wait for Season 3 to start! Daryl Dixon for the win! Anyway, in the event of a zombie outbreak I would seriously hope that I had it was more like Zombieland or Shaun of the Dead and not Resident Evil or The Walking Dead. Or like this...
(You know you were thinking it too).
Good zombie lit = World War Z and Zone One. Check 'em out!
